Accessibility Statement
Last updated: May 2026
Orbital RC is committed to making orbitalrc.co.uk accessible to everyone. The RC hobby is for all — and so is our website.
1. Our Commitment
We aim for orbitalrc.co.uk to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those using screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice input software, or screen magnification tools.
2. Measures We Have Taken
- Used semantic HTML to provide meaningful document structure for assistive technologies.
- Provided descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images, including product images and event photography.
- Ensured colour contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
- Designed the site to be fully navigable by keyboard without a mouse.
- Ensured text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields — have visible focus indicators.
- Form inputs are clearly labelled, and error messages are descriptive and easy to understand.
- Our dark theme maintains appropriate contrast ratios against the Orbit Black background.
3. Conformance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Some content does not yet fully meet the standard. We are actively working to address known issues.
4. Known Issues
- Carousel component: Our gallery carousel may present challenges for keyboard users. We are reviewing the implementation to improve keyboard navigation and ARIA labels.
- Third-party content: Embedded content from social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We are in contact with these providers.
- Video content: Some embedded video content may not include captions. We are working to add these where absent.
5. Technical Information
This website uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA. We rely on these technologies for accessibility conformance. The site has been built using the GAMEWORK design system, which incorporates accessibility best practices at the component level.
6. Our Testing Approach
Accessibility is reviewed as part of our ongoing development process. We test using:
- Automated tools including Axe and Google Lighthouse.
- Keyboard-only navigation testing across our core page templates.
- Screen reader testing with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
- Manual review against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria.
7. Feedback & Contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, or if you need content in an alternative format, please let us know:
- Email: hello@orbitalrc.co.uk
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and will tell you how we plan to address the issue.
8. Enforcement
If you have raised an accessibility concern with us and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). As a private sector organisation, the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not directly apply to us, but we are committed to meeting their standards as a matter of best practice.
