New

Every Time

The course is rebuilt from scratch before every session. No two Crawler Mornings are the same.

On the morning

What to expect.

Crawler Morning is a relaxed, social session. There is no competitive pressure — you navigate the course at your own pace, working through each gate as best you can. No penalties are enforced at a casual level; the gates are there to give you targets, not stress.

The course is built from wood, foam, stone, and cement — modular components that get reconfigured before every session to create a completely fresh layout. What you tackled last month will not be there this month.

First-timers are actively welcomed. Bring your SCX24, say hello, and have a go at the course. You will not be the only beginner in the room.

Kit list

What to bring.

  • Your crawler — 1/18 or 1/24 scale. The Axial SCX24 is the recommended starting point and handles the full course well.
  • Batteries — the SCX24 runs on a 1S 3.7v LiPo. Bring three or four charged packs for a full morning of running.
  • Charger — a basic 1S balance charger is small, cheap, and useful to top up during the session.
  • Sealed electronics — the course includes a water feature. Check that your receiver box and ESC have adequate water resistance for light submersion. Most RTR crawlers handle this fine; consult your manual.
  • Basic tools — small hex drivers and a few spare screws. Nothing elaborate needed for a stock crawler.
  • £6 — cash or card for the door fee.
Built fresh every session

The course.

A different layout every month — but always featuring these four challenge types.

01

Rock Faces

Stacked foam and cement obstacles. Smooth throttle and deliberate line selection — climbing too fast loses traction; too slow loses momentum.

02

Ridge Sections

Narrow elevated paths where wheel placement is everything. Stray off the line and the car rolls. Patience wins here every time.

03

Water Feature

A shallow crossing that adds a real-world element. Most RTR crawlers handle it with no modifications — check your manual for waterproofing guidance before attending.

04

Rope Bridges

Flexible suspended crossings that move underfoot. The car needs good articulation and a steady input to cross cleanly. The most entertaining obstacle on the course.

Common questions

Before you come.

Do I need to book?

No. Crawler Morning is walk-in only. Turn up on the last Sunday of the month any time between 9am and 1pm, pay £6 on the door, and head to the course. No advance booking or registration required.

What car do I need?

A 1/18 or 1/24 scale crawler. The Axial SCX24 (~£110 RTR) is the recommended starting point — it handles the full course and requires no modifications out of the box. The Traxxas TRX-4M is a popular step up. See the crawling page for more options.

I have never crawled before. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Crawler Morning is one of the most beginner-friendly RC events you will find. The course has no minimum skill requirement — attempt as much or as little of it as you like. You will pick up technique quickly just by watching other drivers.

Is the water feature mandatory?

No obstacle is mandatory. The water crossing is there as a challenge, not a requirement. If you are unsure about your car's water resistance, you can skip it — nobody will mind. That said, most RTR mini crawlers are built to handle light water exposure without any issues.

When is the next session?

The last Sunday of every month. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for the confirmed date each month, venue address, and course preview photos.

Can I come if I only have a drift car?

A standard drift car is not suitable for the crawler course — the course requires ground clearance, 4WD, and articulation that drift cars do not have. If you are interested in trying crawling, the Axial SCX24 is an affordable way to get a second vehicle for the discipline.
